Recio: “We have the obligation to go to Vitoria and win”

The Malaguista captain analyses the match against Betis in the mixed zone: “We only did what we prepared for during the first 20-25 minutes”.

A lost opportunity

“We’ve taken a step back, we had a good dynamic in the last home games, three on the run without defeat. Today we had the possibility of moving closer to the teams above, but we weren’t capable of playing a complete match”.

Not what we prepared

“I think in the first 20-25 minutes we did part of what we’d prepared, to steal possession in the attacking half. We generated two or three chances to take the lead, but when the rival went in front it was a struggle for us, as the first shot at goal they had they were able to convert. After that it was a lot of running about in a match in which we could have taken the lead, they could have scored another two or three, but that’s certainly not what we prepared for”.

Sole focus, victory in Vitoria

“In three days we face another final, which we must prepare for. Starting tomorrow, even if we’re still thinking about this defeat, we must focus on Alavés. A difficult game, a game in which we’re playing for a great deal and must prepare for it as if it were a final. We’re going to a tough ground, it’s going to be a war and we need to be ready”.

Respond as we have already done

“I hope we’re able to win there, I think we’ll see things differently. Hopefully the team will respond, as we’ve seen in other games. After this defeat, we have the obligation to go there and win. That’s what we must do”.
