Recio: “This experience helps us to get to know each other”

The Malaguista captain analyses this stage of the pre-season in Holland, following the final friendly against Borussia Mönchengladbach: “It helps us to continue our preparations”.

Preparation

“Everyone likes to win, even if it is just a friendly, but in the end our victories have to be about regaining sensations, doing the things we’re working on in training and preparing ourselves for what’s to come. There are only 23 days until the season gets underway, we’re up against Eibar on the 21st. From a defence aspect, I think the team is doing well, although we conceded goals from set pieces, but this is something we need to correct. We did a lot of things right today, so we must follow this line as we get closer and closer to the start of competition”.

Getting in shape

“We’re gradually getting back on form, by playing minutes, with the rhythm of competition and matches. It’s important that we played about 70 minutes today. Now we’re heading back to Málaga to continue our preparations”.

Tendon discomfort

“It was on the turn, I noticed a pull in the tendon, I hope it’s nothing. If it was something serious I couldn’t even put pressure on my foot, but thankfully I can walk, even though it’s painful. We’ll see what the doctor says”.

Time in Holland

“It helps us to get to know each other. For the new people joining and integrating into the group, we’re together 24 hours. It’s been a bit tough, especially with the bad weather over the past few days, being in the forest is hard. However, it certainly helps us to continue our preparations, isolate ourselves from Málaga and have all the players together”.

Keen for the first victory

“I hope we clinch our first victory in the Costa del Sol Cup. We have to keep doing the good things we’re doing in matches. We’re correcting the bad things so we’re ready for Eibar, which is our goal. In the Costa del Sol competition we’ll try our best to get a good result”.
