The new Málaga Femenino midfielder reviews her footballing career and reveals her hobbies beyond football.
We get to know Raquel García, the new Málaga Femenino midfielder. She started playing football in the park with her brother, and now has a Liga Nacional Championship. Today we take a look ‘under the microscope’.
How did you start playing football, and why choose this sport?
It comes from my family. My grandfather, father and brother have been involved in the world of football. From a young age, I would go to the park with my brother and friends, and spend most of the time playing football. It was there where I took my first steps with the ball.
What is your best memory of your footballing career?
I have many fond memories, but without doubt, the 15/16 Liga Nacional championship was an amazing year. However, I’m certain that this is also going to be a great year.
Why did you decide to come to Málaga CF?
From the outset, this exciting project appealed to me. Following so many years at a great club like Atlético de Madrid, with people who have seen you grow and given you everything, it’s not easy to take the step, but in this case, there was no doubt. I was sure it was a unique opportunity.
How’s the pre-season going, and training with your teammates?
We’re gradually getting to know each other more, we’re a very good group. You can see the enthusiasm and eagerness within the group, to achieve the main objective. This makes for constant, high-intensity training in daily sessions.
What do you expect from this season?
I hope it’s a year I can remember as a special one. That we fulfil all objectives, both collectively and personally, and undoubtedly live the dream of getting Málaga CF to the top flight.
