Ramalho brings versatility and experience to boost the defence

The defender, who can also play as a right-back, arrives on a free transfer after ending his relationship with CA Osasuna. He has signed to Málaga CF for the next two seasons.

Jonás Ramalho Chimeno (10/6/1993, Barakaldo - Bizkaia), is a versatile defender who operates in the central axis of the defence and, in addition, can cover the position of right-back. Rapid, hard-hitting and well positioned, Ramalho is a great asset in setting up a solid backline.

The player trained in the youth ranks of Lezama where, with the reserve team, he played a total of 44 matches in 2ªB. At just 18 years of age, he debuted with the Athletic Club first team in the First Division – on 20/11/2011 against Sevilla FC at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán. Since then, he took part in eight LaLiga Santander matches with the outfit from Bilbao.

In 13/14, he was loaned out to Girona FC where he became a regular fixture in defence, playing a total of 25 games in LaLiga SmartBank, 21 in the starting-11. His great performance led the Catalan team to request his loan again and make him an indispensable part of their defence in the 14/15 season. The defender played 36 games in the silver category, this being his year of full consolidation in professional football.

In 15/16, Ramalho re-joined Bilbao Athletic, who returned to LaLiga SmartBank after 20 years. Later, in the 16/17 season, he joined Girona FC again, already in ownership. That season was particularly special on a personal level and also collectively, since he achieved the long-awaited promotion to the First Division. After five seasons with the Red and Whites, he ended up at CA Osasuna from where he arrived at Málaga CF.

Jonás Ramalho, in addition, is an international with Angola, where his family is from. He debuted with the African side on 13th October 2020 with a victory against Mozambique (3-0).

This defender has played a total of 139 matches in LaLiga SmartBank, 64 in LaLiga Santander, 44 in 1ª RFEF, 24 in the Copa del Rey and three Europa League clashes. An extraordinary career.

Ramalho, welcome to your new home!
