Peñaranda emulates Juanma as U-20 World Cup runner-up

The Malaguista striker competed in the Under-20 World Cup final with Venezuela, which saw England take the title with a 1-0 victory. Peñaranda, like Blue and Whites’ player, Juanma in 1985, is a World Cup runner-up.

The footballer on loan from Watford was part of Venezuela’s starting-11, and tried his luck from the penalty spot in 74’, but his shot was saved by England keeper, Woodman. In minute 93, just before the final whistle, Peñaranda was substituted by his teammate, Hurtado. The forward ended his participation after playing all matches in the tournament (7), scoring 2 goals and 3 assists.

England won the Under-20 World Cup in South Korea thanks to a goal in minute 34 of the first half by Calvert-Lewin, which put the definitive 1-0 on the scoreboard.
