Juan Berrocal strengthens Málaga CF’s defence

The centre-back joins Málaga CF as a free agent after leaving Getafe CF. He has signed a contract until the end of the 2026/27 season.

The defender signed his new contract at La Rosaleda after completing his medical, accompanied by Blue and White sporting director Loren Juarros.

Juan Berrocal González (Jerez de la Frontera, 1999) is a strong, reliable and composed defender who came through the Sevilla FC youth ranks. A Spain U-19 international, he made his first team debut for Sevilla at the age of 19 at the start of the 2018/19 season.

With Sevilla Atlético (2017-20), he made 30 appearances in the Second Division during the 2017/18 season, at just 18 years of age. After completing his time with Sevilla’s reserve side, he spent two seasons on loan from Sevilla at CD Mirandés (2020/21) and Real Sporting de Gijón (2021/22), gaining further experience in the second tier.

SD Eibar signed Berrocal in 2022/23, and the Jerez-born centre-back established himself even further in LALIGA HYPERMOTION. In total, he made 163 appearances in the division over five seasons. After two years in the Basque Country, Getafe CF signed Berrocal in 2024/25, where he made 19 LaLiga appearances under José Bordalás.

Last season, 2025/26, the Madrid-based club loaned Berrocal to Atlanta United FC of Major League Soccer in the United States. After leaving Getafe, he becomes the Blue and Whites’ seventh signing of the current transfer window.

Welcome to the Malaguista family, Juan, and best of luck!
