The Blue and Whites’ striker has qualified to the final of the Under-20 World Cup with Venezuela, taking place in the Korea Republic.
Adalberto Peñaranda played with his national team today in the semi-finals of the World Cup, in a passionate match between Uruguay and Venezuela (1-1) that was decided on penalties. The forward, on loan from Watford, played for 120 minutes, in which Uruguay took the lead with a goal from Nicolás de la Cruz from the penalty spot in 49’. Sosa equalised for the ‘Vinotinto’ side in minute 91, taking the South American duel to extra time, and eventually penalties.
Peñaranda opened the scoring in the penalty shoot-out, which Venezuela won by 3-4. Rafael Dudamel’s team will either face Italy or England in the final, taking place this Sunday 11th June at 12:00 (Spanish time) at Korea’s Suwon World Cup Stadium.
