‘Peña Malaguista’ in Archidona pays tribute to Kameni

Málaga CF goalkeeper, Carlos Kameni was named ‘Malaguista of the Year’ for last season by the Archidona-based supporters' club.

During the 7th anniversary of the ‘Peña Malaguista’ in Archidona (inaugurated on 13th October 2008), and the emotional tribute to Kameni, more than a hundred people attended, made up of members, supporters and children, to congratulate the Cameroonian keeper, who took photos and signed autographs throughout the event.

Kameni, named the best Blue and Whites’ player of 2014/15, was presented with his prize at the supporters’ club’s headquarters in Archidona, and received the traditional gift of his weight in litres of extra virgin olive oil (89’65 kg) from the ‘DCOOP’ cooperative.  The African goalkeeper received a very warm welcome from fans, and the celebrations included a video covering highlights from his professional career and personal life, and he was presented with a commemorative plaque: “Thank you very much to you all, you are true fans and always support the team.  On behalf of the entire team and everyone at the Club I thank you for this award,” affims Kameni.  Francisco Martín Aguilar also had a few words of praise: “You are one of the best people I’ve ever met in the world of football, with an amazing heart.”

Representing the Club at this event was Club adviser, Francisco Martín Aguilar, accompanied by the president of the ‘Peñas Malaguistas’ Federation, Miguel Molina.  Mayor of Archidona, Mercedes Montero was also present, and hosting the event, president of the ‘peña’, David Córdoba.  Representatives from up to seven ‘peñas’, federated by the Club, were also in attendance: Puerto de la Torre (Los Lunes), Conejito Torrox ‘Duda 17’, Alameda, Antequera, Mollina, Villanueva de Algaidas and Coín-based Valle de Guadalhorce ‘Juanmi’.
