Pellicer: “This is a first class derby”

The Malaguista coach held a press conference ahead of the Cup duel against Granada CF: “They have grown the most in Spain, we look up to them”.

A very special match

“Historically, and in terms of the fans, this is a First Division derby. I’ve experienced it as a 2ªB player in 1997 when there were 20,000 people here and at Los Cármenes. It’s a historic rivalry, a healthy rivalry between fans and a rivalry we want to compete in LaLiga SmartBank”.

Diego Martínez, a great example

“Not long ago Málaga CF and Granada CF were playing together in LaLiga SmartBank. That year they moved up with Diego Martínez, who showed that you don’t have to be a renowned player to be a top-level coach. Many people look up to him”.

A rival and a team to look up to

“I think they have grown the most in Spain in every way, the Europa League, Cup semi-finalist, seventh in the league…we look up to them. With a well-controlled financial situation, people working in the Club’s best interests, it sets an example for us. This is a first-class derby and what we want in the future is to be in LaLiga Santander”.
