Well-deserved, much-needed victory (2-3)

Málaga Femenino defeated FF La Solana, away from home, on matchday 10 of Group Sur ‘A’ in Reto Iberdrola. A crucial win for the girls against a direct rival.

Nati Gutiérrez selected the following starting-11, with Lucía in goal; Encarni, Ruth, Candela and Ale in defence; Gabi, Andrea, Tati and Clo in midfield; and María Ruiz and Edna upfront.

Paula scored for the locals in minute 10. Tati, in her second match with MCFF this season, went level 1-1 (31’). The score remained the same at half-time.

In the second half, Málaga struck twice. First in 53’, Edna launched a free kick that was deflected by the La Solana keeper, whilst Encarni slammed the ball into the back of the net winning a tough fight with the defence.

In 76’, again with strategy taking centre stage, the girls scored the third. A shot from Clo was finished by Encarni to make it 1-3. Irina for the locals, in 80’, made for an exciting finish with a goal, but the final result was 2-3 to the Blue and Whites.

Three essential points for Málaga, who have accumulated three matches without defeat in the second round of the competition, obtaining their first win away from Cártama in the 20/21 season. The girls will attempt to keep the winning streak with an away win against current leaders, Pozoalbense.
