Pellicer: “There are games that are First Division quality, and this is one of them”

The Málaga CF coach held a press conference, at La Rosaleda, to analyse #CádizMálaga. “Cádiz make the difficult look easy, they are a very solid block”, he said about tomorrow’s rival.

Cádiz CF – Málaga CF

“We’re really excited about this game, especially following last weekend’s win. We know we’re up against the leader, when a team is at the top it’s because they’re doing things right. In this division, victory against any rival is a big ask, all the matches are very close and we’re going there with the enthusiasm of being able to come home with a win. We go to every ground with that idea, that mentality, and we are fully aware this is going to be a tremendously difficult match. There are certain Second Division games that are First Division quality, and this is one of them, because of the atmosphere and the healthy rivalry between the two teams, which is an incentive for everyone”.

Room for improvement

“Defeats open wounds and victories heal them. We have to open our eyes to be able to improve, know what we’re doing well and influence it, as teams are always looking for room to improve. That victory has helped to open our eyes, be more alert, have that faith to keep insisting so we can achieve our goals. It will make us more mature and have more responsibility ahead of what will be a beautiful game”.

The leader, a solid rival

Cádiz make the difficult look easy, they are a very solid block. All words of praise for a team that is in the top spot for the similarities in their defence, counter-attacks and set pieces. They manage everything, a very recognisable team due to the coach they’ve had for a long time. We know the situations perfectly well in which they’re particularly strong, they do it very well. They make it immensely tough for the rival to find the cracks, so we’ll see if we can do it the easy way. It will be a very tight game, hopefully we can convey the plan we’ve been working on all week on the pitch, so the match goes in our favour. They are also very strong in the final stages of play, they see the goal with ease as they have great insistence, security, confidence and a great deal of patience”.
