Pellicer: “We can’t lower our intensity even for a second”

The Málaga coach gave a press conference ahead of #MálagaRealSociedadB in the second matchday of LALIGA HYPERMOTION: “In front of our fans, we have to fly at home and reach four points,” he encouraged.

Sanse, a rival with clear ideas

“They are academy teams with a very clear philosophy, one they’ve been working on for many years, and that ideology is transferred to the first team. They showed it the other day, being a reserve team and playing in a stadium like La Rosaleda will make them come with boldness after earning a victory against a club like Real Zaragoza. They play a 4-3-3 with very wide interiors and a lot of verticality up front. Their weakness might be the defensive level due to their youth, but they showed a standard not typical of a debut in the division. They were the team that covered the most ground and achieved the best result among the newly promoted sides. We need to be more consistent and maintain the tempo we want,” he said.

Luismi, a tough absence both professionally and personally

“We wish him a speedy recovery and want to send strength to his family, who went through a scare, it’s the negative side of football. We hope he gets well soon. I went to see him, I’ve been speaking with his wife, and he’s a titan, a player full of commitment and dedication. We’ve had a fright. Thankfully, it’s less serious than it first seemed, especially considering the blow could have affected his eye. Now he needs to recover with his family, and our Málaga family will be waiting for him with open arms. I spoke with him, and this year he is one of the key players because of his profile. The season has hit us very hard in just 21 minutes. These are serious injuries, on a personal level he has all our support, and on a professional level we’re taking blow after blow with uncontrollable injuries. We need to turn this around, take a step forward, and find solutions.”

The Club will do everything possible

“The Club is going to work, there’s still time, to do what’s best for the season. The best thing within squads is to have competitiveness and a bit of discomfort that pushes performance higher. The Club will try, and if there’s no option, we’ll go with what we have because I’m very happy. We’re in a good situation with the squad, with players who are very hungry, those who have arrived, those who’ve been promoted, and those already here. But there are uncontrollable situations, players whose recovery time we don’t know. I believe the Club will do everything possible.”

Home games are always key

“When you look at the calendar, you know it’s difficult to win two matches in a row at home, but our strength lies here. Last Saturday we were left with a bittersweet taste, the team always fights and stays in the game, and I hold on to that. In front of our fans, we have to fly at home. On Sunday we need to confirm the work of these two matchdays and head to Las Palmas with four points.”

A great week of work

“It’s been a very good week, testing many variations. Today we lowered the workload and focused on more analytical aspects. I see the boys doing well, restless and alert. We can’t lower our intensity for even a second. When everyone contributes to the group and we’re all focused, it makes us better. When someone drops their intensity, the team feels it a lot.”
