Great team effort
“We played a collective first half. It’s appreciated when you win the match, and the first half was one of the best of the season, for the boldness, confidence, and the chances we created… In the second half, the opponent put more pressure on us. We had to keep them away from our area, and we also had some situations where we lacked precision, but I want to congratulate the guys. They’ve been doing an impeccable job, suffering what I believe is unjustly. It’s a joy, and we’re already thinking about Sunday’s match. There’s still work to do, nothing is done yet.”
Keep working
“Tomorrow I’m going to watch Almería. Our professionalism makes us optimistic even when things are going bad, and now the guys need to celebrate it. For us, there’s still more to do, and I believe that if we go to the limit, we’re not invincible, but we are a very competitive team. They’re ready for anything. We have one thing to work on, we haven’t managed three consecutive wins yet, and that’s another challenge for us. I hope it’s a perfect weekend for Malaguismo.”
Best version of the team
“We played with a four-man defence. We made a change when we brought on Carlos. In attack, we play with a three-man line, and we are finding our best version at the most important moment of the season. In a few years, the younger generation will appreciate this. Everyone who has participated has been excellent. The rhythm, the confidence. I’m very proud of how they’ve embraced the belief in our style of play and those variations. That level of performance comes from the level of training and from those who don’t play.”
Belief in the process
“The reinforcement comes from the players who don’t participate and those with more experience. When I leave here, I’m going to keep living in Málaga, and I want to walk down the street. For me, it’s a reinforcement from the guys, a brave bet. This is a process. It’s a team effort, everyone’s work, and there’s still a long way to go. I’d like to see continuity in these matches, we’re a very tough team when we’re at our best.”
A family
“Since I've been here, I think for and about Málaga above personal ego. It’s a family, and it has to be that way. Today, some players participated, and against Eldense, others will. With that kind of performance, all the positive things are contagious.”
