Pellicer: “The lads didn’t deserve the defeat”

The Málaga CF coach spoke after the loss against Real Oviedo at the Carlos Tartiere. “Manu Molina has apologised, but when someone gives their all, there’s nothing to reproach,” he said.

Analysis of the defeat

“We went behind on the scoreboard when they made their substitutions. The goal came from a second ball, just like the second one. But I believe that in terms of positional attack and the collective development of the team, I’m happy, although at the same time, I’m hurt because I think the lads didn’t deserve the defeat.”

Good game despite the loss

“The player's profile is the same, what has changed is the structure, whether there was a triangle in the centre, a double pivot, or if they pushed forward with wingers. From there, it’s because it’s been very little time. They didn’t surprise us, we focused on ourselves. And anyone who is objective, regardless of being from Oviedo or Málaga, will have seen that the team that lost did many things well.”

Manu Molina’s state of mind

“What I told him is to stay calm. He has apologised, but when someone gives their all, there's nothing to reproach. My full support goes to Manu and all the others. Last year, we experienced a promotion in the final play, and this year, we've lost two games in this way, although we've also won some. I'm grateful for that last play, even though today it went against us.”
