Pellicer: “We knew how to play with heart and mind”
The Malaguista coach spoke after the 2-1 victory against Real Sporting. “We have six points left to play for, and the goal is to reach 58 points,” he stated.
Everyone’s contribution counts
“I want to thank the fans. Since day one, since last year... Today, it was them who won the match. That feeling has to be carried forward. Thanks to the players for the effort they've made. Thanks to the coaching staff and to our families. There's still a long way to go, nothing is guaranteed yet, but today is a celebration earned through suffering. I also want to apologise to the players who are getting fewer minutes.”
Emotion after a key victory
“There’s a lot of hard work behind this. Everything we’ve been through. The people at the club, the staff, we’re truly fortunate. That’s why I get emotional. I manage this team differently than any other. When I retire, I’ll be just another Malagueño.”
Hard-fought match
“It was a very tough game. The match was in a dangerous place, and we had to look for victory by using the space. They went 0-1 up, and full credit to the lads, it's very difficult to come from behind in this division. We scored one more goal than the rival, and today we saw what this Málaga side is about, while knowing there's still room for improvement.”
Step forward in the face of adversity
“Garitano has built a very solid team. They created chances when given space, and the game became very difficult. But we played with intelligence, heart, and the support of our fans. Nothing is certain yet, we still have six points to play for, and the goal is to reach 58. Football is about emotions, and we have to follow them. At La Rosaleda, those emotions earn points, and they’re second to none.”
Malaguista feeling
“We’ve created a sense of belonging, with the entire squad and all the fans, and emotions have to be managed. These are powerful emotions, and we’ve known how to play with both heart and mind.”
