The player has signed the renewal of his contract with the Club at La Rosaleda Stadium’s offices, accompanied by sporting director Loren Juarros.
Daniel Rodríguez Sánchez (14/01/2000, Málaga) is nearing the end of his second season with Málaga CF’s first team. After spending several formative years in the youth ranks of Real Madrid CF, he played for Atlético Malagueño in the 2018/19 season in the now-defunct Segunda División B.
Afterwards, Dani gained further experience in the third tier of Spanish football with spells at Extremadura, Linares, Sabadell, and Numancia, before returning to Málaga last summer to strengthen the left side of the defence.
Then in the 2023/24 season, he played 27 matches in the Primera Federación and two more in the Copa del Rey, sharing duties at left-back with Víctor García on an individual level, and contributing collectively to a historic promotion to LALIGA HYPERMOTION.
In the current 2024/25 season, Dani Sánchez has cemented his place in the starting line-up, having featured in 24 league matches so far (22 as a starter, 17 of them full games), accumulating nearly 2,000 minutes of play, along with two goals and three assists.
Operating down the left wing, whether as a full-back or wing-back, the Malagueño number 18 has shown remarkable fighting spirit, outstanding physical endurance, and the technical quality to assist or even score, despite wearing the number ‘3’. He’s also formed a strong bond with the fans, thanks to his charisma, something that was especially evident last season during a tense moment involving concern for Dioni’s physical condition.
With this contract renewal, Málaga CF secures stability at left-back with a 25-year-old player in full development, deeply connected to the club’s project and highly appreciated by the fans. It’s a commitment to a true Malaguista at heart, someone who embodies the Club’s values both on and off the pitch.
Dani, you’re one of us. Congratulations, and here’s to continuing this journey together until 2027!
