Burgos CF
“A rival that, since their coach’s arrival, can be defined in one word: ‘order.’ A team that competes at the highest level, especially at home. For us, it’s about competing, executing the best action at every moment, both individually and collectively. At the highest level, because the opponent demands it. A team that wins at El Plantío is one that’s prepared to be at the top. There are many things we need to improve, and we want to find the best way to compete. This week we’ve recharged our batteries, and it’s a challenge, a test, at a stadium against a very well-organised opponent.”
Improving effectiveness
“We need to calm things down and analyse everything. The players are the protagonists, and it’s important that they understand what they are or aren’t doing well. The other day we competed in a very good way, but we lacked that effectiveness. We have to improve our effectiveness and our ability to overcome adversity, with calm, and with the courage to take risks. And we must refocus on our work in order to achieve results.”
Names
“Ángel (Mateo) is helping us to work on certain aspects, and Haitam is training better and better, adapting well to the workload. Josue (Dorrio) is getting closer, and this week he could be an option within the game plan.”
Competing and small details
“We have to know how to manage both victories and defeats. On a mental level, we want to reconnect with that sense of excitement, being aware that we have a very special opportunity. And opportunities must be worked for and fought for. When we compete well, we are a very difficult team to beat. That will bring us closer to the result. Those small details, which last year we weren’t able to get on our side, let’s see if this time we can, like in Huesca or the other day. Competing and making decisions individually for the good of the team. And maintaining focus and paying close attention to everything.”
Moments
“I’m concerned about controlling those stretches, those moments in the match when we’re not at our best. We need to be more solid, with greater confidence in ourselves, in the attitudes and abilities I see day by day in training, and bring that into the game.”
“In these last few matches we’ve had more good moments than bad. And luck, as well, has to be sought out and worked for.”
