Pellicer: “It's one of the most exciting matches of the season”

The Málaga CF coach spoke this Friday ahead of the match against RC Deportivo, corresponding to LALIGA HYPERMOTION matchday 8. “We need the best version of everyone; we have to give it our all,” he said.

A great rival and location

“It's one of the most exciting matches because of the history of both clubs. This is my home; I had the opportunity to be there for four months, and I know what Deportivo’s fans are like and what the atmosphere is like in their stadium. I want us as professionals to enjoy a match that hasn't been played in four years, with two incredible fanbases. We have to set an example, let the rivalry stay on the field, as we are very similar in many ways. And I hope it's a good game because it's a spectacular match. Hopefully, this match can be played in the First Division, because both the clubs and the fans deserve it.”

Personality and confidence

“Dépor found a very important victory considering how they were coming in, and now they are in a state of excitement. We need to bounce back from any setbacks, assert our identity, be very strong in defence, and finish our attacking plays. And then, we need to be mentally strong, because at Riazor, the fans really support their team, just like La Rosaleda does for us. We need personality and confidence because we’ve already proven ourselves.”

Effort is non-negotiable

“We have to know that our level of focus must be at its peak, and any mistake will cost us. There will be rotations because what's coming up is intense, and we need to be prepared. I want players who are joyful and fearless, heads held high. Fight, fight, and fight, no matter what happens, and effort, that's non-negotiable. From there, we need to improve; we need to show once again the act of resilience. Full effort and maximum dedication, just like they’ve been showing this week.”

Everyone is important

“I have certain doubts, and tomorrow we'll have the final training session. There will be rotations because an essential stretch is coming up. We need the best version of everyone, because this doesn't stop. They are working on it and showing it. The changes are because Cádiz is coming up, then the Copa del Rey, and we want to maintain intensity for the full 90 minutes.”
