Pellicer: “By playing like this we can do important things”
The Málaga CF coach spoke at a press conference following the 3-0 victory against Antequera CF. “The players performed at a very high level, which we need to maintain for the remaining games,” he said.
Victory
“The most important thing was to win and the way in which we did it. Antequera has been a revelation this season, the team competed very well in front of our fans, ahead of the next game, which will be different. We saw some interesting things from players who have taken a step forward, and who continue to improve.”
A sweet ‘see you soon’
“This is the best way to bid farewell to the regular season, we scored three goals and created many chances. We took risks by creating superiority and seeking the free man. This is a mirror in which to grow from there. The context of the game is going to be different in the next one. We are fourth, it doesn’t depend on us, but we’re going to fight for third place against Castilla. We have done a lot of things this season and in the last games we didn't like how the team was playing, we had to be self-critical. I congratulate the boys for the game, for how the rival played.”
Self-esteem lift
“This week has been one of the most complicated for me, from what I saw, I didn't see the transfer from training to games. Self-esteem comes from winning, particularly at La Rosaleda. We hadn't done it for four games, the lads and the fans need this game. This is important to realise that we can do important things.”
Positive aspects
“I'm going to remain with the positive things. The starting-11 showed us some good minutes in positional attack that we were struggling with. They pressured us at the top and overcame the lines of pressure, our intensity was very good. I see David (Larrubia) training every day and I will talk to Kevin on Tuesday. In football you have to have empathy, he’s a young lad and it is quite a learning experience.”
All together for the same objective
“Hopefully we’ll arrive with renewed energy, may there be synergy between fans, players, coach and club. We all need to move in the same direction. It’s our last game in the regular phase, it’s been a tough year and we are overcoming the obstacles. It was an important day, it generates self-esteem in the players. David Larrubia scored, Roberto is close to being top scorer, Luca (Sangalli) comes in and that magic appeared. The players performed at a very high level, which we need to maintain for the remaining games.”
The fans are everything
“The people have always been there. You have to ask yourself why people are not happy and it’s because of the results. In the last few games we were lacking more precision, finding solutions. It’s been one of the most complicated weeks because a lot of doubt has been generated. The next time I sit down it will be for a final. The fans have always been there. When we’ve not got it right, the fans have always been there. In the next game the fans are going to carry us, because in two minutes we can score two goals. The fans are everything.”
