Pellegrini: “Mallorca is a dangerous rival which gives importance to the form of the game.”

The Blues and Whites Manager, Manuel Pellgrini, spoke to the media this afternoon in the La Rosaleda press room.

Pellegrini’s statements:

(Baptista’s return). “Baptista is able to play and has recovered from his injury.  He trained this morning without any bother and has been able to work with the team completely normally.  His presence is going to be important, he’s a great player and he will make it a more technical game.  It’s never a problem for a coach to have all the squad’s players on form.”

(Mallorca). “It’s rival that has a few more important absences than they did last year, but Laudrup plays a dangerous game and he gives a lot of important to the form of the game.  We’re going to have to be very level-headed and hopefully it’ll be a good game of football. We’re evaluating each day and know that each game will be different from the one before.”

(Mentality). “There was no euphoria, nor disappointment, after losing against Sevilla.  A long-term project has begun for Málaga – that project is to get into Europe in the shortest time possible.  Winning against Granada didn’t produce euphoria – it’s all about working week after week.”

(Variety). “There are many variants that a coach has, and we look to see if it’s appropriate to repeat the same line-up, always trying to make as few mistakes as possible. The fact of now playing three matches in a week gives more momentum, and to be in the top of the table we have to get as many points out of each as possible.”

(Cazorla’s goals).  “Santi hasn’t surprised me at all, as last year he got eight goals, he’s a good shot and can use both legs; we got him in as we knew what he can bring to the team.  For a midfielder it’s very important to score goals.”
