Pablo Guede: “We need to put all five senses into our work”

The Malaguista coach held a press conference before #MálagaBurgos at La Rosaleda. “It’s wonderful to have awoken these things in Malaguismo,” he said.

The Argentinean coach held a press conference in La Rosaleda’s Juan Cortés press room ahead of the LaLiga SmartBank matchday 41 fixture, in which Burgos CF are away to La Rosaleda. Given the excitement surrounding the fans this week, with the ‘Sold Out’ sign displayed at the ticket offices, Guede remains cautious. “I’m following the same line as I believe it’s the most convenient for everyone. We’ve got to continue working on what we’ve been doing all week, which will bring us closer to victory. There are two important matches remaining, which is why I’m following the same line,” said the Malaguista coach.

The fans’ response ahead of this match is unquestionable, and a spectacular crowd is expected at La Rosaleda. Pablo tries not to let the excitement affect the team’s work. “I stay away from what’s happening on the outside, I don’t get involved. It can confuse us somewhat and we need to put all five senses into our work, Hopefully, when we go out there tomorrow, La Rosaleda will explode,” he said. However, he’s grateful for the support: “It’s great for the players. It motivates them even more. It’s wonderful to have awoken these things in Malaguismo. It’s a joy.”

The team won’t be able to count on Brandon tomorrow, who was shown his fifth yellow card in Tenerife. There are alternatives to replace the Malaguista number ‘9’, which Guede talks about: “Brandon is missing but Pablo, Sekou and Roberto are on form. Whoever plays will do a great job. I have no doubt.” In addition, he said: “The players trained well during the week” and “there was neither excessive joy nor apprehension.”

In regard to the rival, Burgos CF, the Blue and White coach expects “the best” of them. “I’m very clear on this. They will come here to play their game and win. Tomorrow’s match isn’t going to be easy. Whoever thinks that the game is going to be easy, because of the crowd, is very wrong. They know what they’re playing, and they do it very well,” he said about the visitors.

The key for the coach is patience, and he stressed this during the press conference: “If we get involved with the frenzy of the fans, it won’t go well. We’re going to be very patient. The fans will have to be very patient. Tomorrow is all about patience. It’s such a tough game. Nerves, pressure… We have to be clear about what the game requires at all times. If we get carried away by things that take you out of the game, it's going to cost us. We have to be focused for 95 minutes regardless of the results,” he said.
