Guede: “We have to apologise to the fans”

The Blue and White coach was very critical of his team's performance following the defeat against Burgos CF: “I had tears in my eyes when we arrived, it hurts my soul not to reciprocate,” he said about the reception before the match.

Malaguista coach, Pablo Guede held a press conference after the last home game of the season. Despite achieving the final objective of remaining in the division, the Blue and Whites suffered a narrow defeat, to the disapproval of the fans. More than 25,000 supporters were at the stadium, the largest crowd of the season: “We have to apologise to the fans. They behaved like the great fans they are, and we were unable to reciprocate,” said the coach.

Málaga CF have mathematically secured their place in professional football next season. However, this Saturday night was bittersweet. “The feelings are mixed. The team has been saved, which is what I was brought here for. But the way we did it wasn’t great. What has been happening occurred again, we didn’t control the minutes. Football puts you where you deserve. We deserved to be saved, we’ve been better away from home. I had tears in my eyes when we arrived, it hurts my soul not to reciprocate,” the mister added.

As for the match, the Blue and Whites' plans didn't work out on the pitch: “We didn't have the required fluidity. We weren't able to counter when they moved back to score the goal. It was a game that required a lot of patience, but we rushed it,” he commented.

“You don’t come to Málaga to ask but to give everything you’ve got. I have no idea what the salary cap is, as it doesn’t concern me. When I’m advised, I’ll give my opinions in time about what we’ll need to progress next season,” said the coach when asked about the future preparation of the team.

In regard to his personal experience of the match, the coach was clear: “It's the worst thing I've ever experienced, there was too much suffering. Feelings are running high as it often clouds your mind making decisions. When I get home my tears will fall, it’s difficult to control it,” he added.

Unsurprisingly, the chance to manage the Blue and Whites is a dream for the coach: “Being at Málaga is the most important challenge of my life, because it's the club I love. Going forward, it’s a beautiful challenge,” he explained.

Lastly, he again talks about the fans: “It hurts to lose at home, Asking the people to come, they answer the call, and you can’t give them the win they deserve. That hurts, we need to combine our energies,” he concluded.
