Press conference

Luis Muñoz: “Whoever comes here next season has to die for this Club”

The Blue and White number ‘8’ held a press conference after #MálagaBurgos. “We were unable to beat a rival that had nothing at stake,” he affirmed to the media.

The player started out by asking for “forgiveness. I’m leaving here super angry. I have family in Málaga and have to live with this. It looked as though the season was going well, then things turned, and now we’ve saved ourselves in this manner. We were nowhere near up to the level the fans have been with the team,” he stated.

“We’ve been talking amongst ourselves. We now have to swallow this and accept what they’re saying, considering the year we’ve had and how we saved ourselves,” said one of the MCF captains. Regarding the 0-1 loss against Burgos: “We went out there to win but we were unable to beat a rival that had nothing at stake. This can’t happen, we’re Málaga. We are saved, but we didn’t want to give this image.”

Luis is “crestfallen” as “the image we’ve shown is far from ideal, it’s not what the Club or the fans deserve. We haven’t lived up to the demands and whoever comes here next season has to die for this Club.” Self-critical, he stressed that “we’ve met the objective, but we didn’t want to do it like this. I’m satisfied with the salvation of this Club, but whoever arrives must give their all.”

“If we’d have all given a little more, this situation wouldn’t have arisen,” said Luis Muñoz who went on to talk about the future: “Last week the team responded perfectly. Pablo (Guede) has instilled the desire and ambition, and next year we need to grow and improve.”
