Orlando Sá: “I felt that Málaga would be a challenge”

The new Malaguista striker was presented to the media at La Rosaleda in a remote press conference: “It’s an opportunity to feel the joy of playing football again”, he said.

The Portuguese player, the first signing of 20/21, will wear the number ‘9’ jersey. Sá was accompanied at his press conference by Manolo Gaspar. “It’s an honour to present Orlando, I thank him for his enthusiasm, and we’re delighted he’s part of the Malaguista family (…) He’s a player I’ve known for a long time. I was pleasantly surprised at how eager and helpful he was to come here”, said the Club’s Sports Director.

Opportunity

“I’m grateful to Manolo and everyone at the Club, from day one I felt well loved. It was one of the most important things in me signing to Málaga. It’s an opportunity to feel the joy of playing football again”.

Challenge

“I’m a team player and will try to do my best for the team. Strong-willed men need good challenges. This could be one of the biggest challenges of my life. I want to work hard to be the player I was before. I felt that Málaga would be a challenge”.

Team and individual

“I’m certain we’ll have a competitive team. Over the coming weeks we’ll get better each day, and those who are staying will be 100 per cent behind the Club, focused on the team, not the individual. I’m feeling better now, and I know what I need to do to get back to the form I had before”.

Motivation

“The pre-season serves to help prepare the body. With the eagerness I have I feel like an 18-year-old. I’m motivated to train every day and feel able to help the team. Having a competitive team which feels like family is important, taking each match at a time with humility and responsibility. United”.

Goals and enthusiasm

“It depends on the way the team plays, but I hope to secure 70 or 80 per cent of the chances (…) If you ask me, of course, I’m thinking about moving up to the First Division. That’s what we’re going for, but we have to go match by match and see what happens”.
