The midfielder arrives on loan for the 2020/21 season from Extremadura Unión Deportiva.
The 24-year-old player has now signed his contract with Málaga CF for the upcoming 20/21 season, and will join pre-season training with his new teammates once the relevant PCR tests have been passed.
Beginnings in football in Cádiz
Cristian Rodríguez Pérez (15/03/1996, Jerez de la Frontera), a midfielder of 1,75 metres in height, took his first steps in the world of football with Atlético Sanluqueño, at ‘Juvenil’ age. Between the 13/14 season and the start of 16/17 he played for the first team, playing a key part in the promotion from Third Division to Second B in 15/16.
Jump to a reserve team with progression
After playing the first league game with Atlético Sanluqueño in the 16/17 season, he joined the second team of Club Atlético de Madrid, where he remained until the 18/19 season and where he moved up from Third Division to the bronze category of Spanish football. During his time with the ‘colchonero’ outfit he coincided with Malaguista Keidi Bare in 17/18, whilst in his last year he joined the first team line-up for the match against Real Betis (February 2019). He ended his time with the Red and Whites having played a total of 57 matches and scoring three goals.
Consistency with Extremadura
Last season, in 19/20, Cristian played for Extremadura UD, playing an important role on the team in LaLiga Smartbank. The experience he acquired in the silver division is quantified in 26 games played and three goals scored.
