Niño: “I’m happy to debut and help with a goal”

The striker, Málaga’s debut goal scorer against SD Eibar, spoke at the post-match press conference. “I take the pressure as support to keep working harder,” he said.

Happy

“The goal is always to compete in the matches and try to win them. I’m happy to debut in the league at La Rosaleda and to be able to help the team with a goal.”

Goal

“It’s an honour to receive that support from so many people. The goal? I tried to finish quickly because I saw the goalkeeper was out of position. The ovation gives you encouragement to keep going.”

Alone or with a partner

“I don’t have a preference, I feel comfortable alone, with Chupete, or with Eneko when he recovers. I can help the team either way.”

Pressure and hard work

“It’s a nice kind of pressure that I enjoy feeling and facing with motivation. I don’t think about scoring alone, even though strikers are judged by goals; but a striker does many things, like defensive work and other tasks the coach asks for.”

“I focus on playing and doing what I know. That pressure is positive, I take it as support and as motivation to keep training and working harder.”

Dressing room

“I’ve adapted very well (to Málaga). We’re very united in there, with great teammates. I feel very comfortable and very motivated.”
