Málaga CF returned to training this morning at the Ciudad de Málaga Athletics Stadium. Midfielder, Ignacio Camacho, held a press conference before training got underway.
Today’s session consisted of continuous running, stretching, rounds, possession exercises, defence-attack practice and a mini-match. Weligton again had a less intense session than the rest of the group, whilst Onyewu worked in the gym, as he’s still suffering with a sprained left ankle. Atlético Malagueño’s Pol, Fabrice, Jurado and Óscar Sielva were in training with the first team this morning, along with La Academia’s Cristian Moreno. Diego Buonanotte, who is now moving to Granada CF, didn’t take part in training.
The team is back to work tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. at the Ciudad de Málaga Athletics Stadium.

“It’s always going to be a special match playing against the team from your home town, where I played when I was younger. The most important thing however is that we perform well and don’t make any mistakes, as it’s crucial that we keep the three points at home to ensure we remain in Champions League positions. We know what we need to do to win, and we’ll prove it on Sunday.”
“We’re training midweek, as it’s been a while since we’ve trained specifically for a match, with players having just 48-72 hours to recover in between matches.”
“Buonanotte leaving is bittersweet really. It’s wonderful for him as he’ll get the chance to play more, but it’s a shame to lose a team mate and friend.”
“I think Zaragoza are playing much better this year. They were at the bottom last season, but have been racking up more League points this year.”
“We can’t afford to make any mistakes at home, whether we’re up against a major rival or a smaller team. We’ve defeated Real Madrid, but have lost to teams much further down the League table, which has cost us dearly. It’s not about changing our attitude, but about knowing where we went wrong, and avoiding any errors on the pitch.”
“Teams that come here to La Rosaleda could play completely differently compared to last season. They’ll also know how we play, which can be a drawback. The rival team can definitely have an advantage in that respect.”
“It’s going to be a bit different kicking off at midday. The fans are normally watching the match with a Coca-Cola and ‘pipas’, but on Sunday they’ll be having chocolate and ‘churros’! Playing this early will be a reminder of when we were younger when all the matches had an early kick-off. All our training sessions throughout the week take place in the morning, but it’ll still be different playing a match at that time.”
