Natxo González, Málaga CF coach, held a press conference the day before #MálagaAlmería, corresponding to LaLiga SmartBank matchday 27.
Based on the match held at La Romareda last week, he said there were things he liked, and he had “the feeling of being a more compact block. The idea from a defence point of view is to reduce the number of goals we were conceding, which was making it difficult to stay in the games. From there, we want to continue strengthening our defence. On the attack we want to be a little better every day, to win matches you need to generate chances and score goals,” he added.
Regarding the rival, UD Almería, he said they are “one of the most powerful teams in the division. They dominate a lot of stats with their automated attacking display. It’s going to be a tough game against a great rival. We’re at our ground and will try as hard as we can to continue the path we’ve started, improving in certain aspects,” he said about tomorrow’s opponent.
Being his first match at La Rosaleda since he became coach, he said that he imagines “fans that are going to try to help the team.” In addition, he emphasised that “the fans know we need their help as we’re stronger with them.”
The Malaguista coach ended his press conference by highlighting the team’s responsibility in ensuring the fans respond. “We are the ones who have to give them the reasons to spur us on, to excite them and for everything to go our way,” he said.
