Press conference
Natxo González: “The word of the week is perseverance”

The Malaguista coach held a press conference in the run-up to #MálagaHuesca. “We want to start the match well, we need the fans to help us towards victory,” he stated.

The coach from Vitoria answered the media’s questions during this morning’s press conference at the Juan Cortés press room ahead of the LaLiga SmartBank matchday 33 fixture, which will see SD Huesca visiting La Rosaleda. “We’re back at home and the importance of winning the three points is unquestionable,” Natxo started off by saying.

In regard to the rival, SD Huesca, the Malaguista coach said the team is “a powerful side in the division” and that “their objective is maximum ambition, which they have.” He went on to talk about “how tight the category is.” Yet, the coach affirmed the team has “the same enthusiasm of facing the game with guarantees and winning. We want to make the fans happy,” he stated.

As well as the unusual weather on the Costa del Sol, the week has been marked by some tough days. “After Fuenlabrada, there was two days of a lot of frustration. The players were hurt having not achieved what would have been a well-deserved result. The word of the week is perseverance. We need to trust in what we’re doing, although individually we’ll have to boost our performance to move closer to victory,” said Natxo.

Following several matches without winning the three points at La Rosaleda, when asked about this, the Malaguista coach differentiated between worry and concern. “The situation worries us, and we have to return to winning ways at home. This has to be decisive for the final stretch of the competition. We work with that enthusiasm. We’ll do it, that first victory will be on Sunday. We have to take that little step forward. We want to impose ourselves in some aspects of the game and improve in the final metres,” the coach added.

Yesterday at La Rosaelda, the Peñas Malaguistas, members of the supporters’ stand, and the Club vowed to all row in the same direction during the final part of the competition. When asked about the fans and the pitch factor, Natxo said “the team, with that need and that desire, has to know how to manage it on an emotional level. The playing at home factor has to benefit from playing in front of our people. We want to start the match well, we need the fans to help us towards victory,” he said.
