Narrow defeat by UDG Tenerife (1-0)

A goal from the home side in 85’ prevented the Malaguistas from bringing points home from Tenerife in a match in which Bassira Touré debuted and the visitors dominated the ball.

Minimal defeat for Málaga CF Femenino against UDG Tenerife (1-0) thanks to a goal from Ana González in 85’. The Blue and Whites dominated the match and put on a good display, however the locals claimed all three points.

The Malaguistas, far more comfortable on the field of play, controlled the initial stages of an exciting first half without any problems. The fight for the ball and the level of respect between both teams was the tone of the first 45 minutes. Superior on the attack, Málaga could have opened the scoring with a Marta Cazalla header that didn’t find the net. The Madrid-born player repeated the feat with a shot from the six-yard box in 25’. Meanwhile, Granadilla attempted to defeat Chelsea with a shot from Pisco in 35’, but the Málaga keeper had no problem with the save. The intense first half came to an end with the scoreboard at 0-0.

In the second half, the locals stepped up and sped up play, despite the ongoing dominance by Contreras’ girls. The clearest opportunity for the home side came from Pisco. First with a corner in minute 61 that Chelsea palmed perfectly, and then from a dangerous set piece on the edge of the area that the Málaga keeper again prevented. The match slowed down, and the ball was disputed in midfield, with free kicks for both sides. Neither team found success in front of goal, until Ana González surpassed the Blue and White defence and beat Chelsea to take the locals to a 1-0 lead. In 87’, Bassira made her debut wearing the Málaga jersey. The visitors didn’t give up their quest for an equaliser, as the referee added eight minutes of stoppage time. Luck wasn’t on the Malagueñas’ side and the match ended with a 1-0 win to Tenerife.
