Market analysis
“All the positions are more or less balanced. We have a squad of 22 players with 3, 4 or 5 reserve team members who are helping and contributing a great deal, such as those who have played or are going to play, who I’m sure will do their bit. At the last minute there’s always someone from a team who is available, of interest, and logically you have to be involved. However, it’s not a situation we were in out of desperation. We arrived at the last minute without having the need to sign for signing’s sake, which is important. If there was nobody in the market to improve on what we already have, it’s better not to sign”.
High positions in the standings
“You never know, because out of the 22 teams in the category, 20 want to be in this league. Surely out of those 20, 16 will be fighting until the last month because of the level of equality. The difference between those teams at the top and those in the middle will be 3, 4 or 5 points at most. This means that when you win a match, you get hooked. We have to position ourselves, work hard and reach a situation to be able to finish the league, and for those two or three months be ready to say what our objective is at that moment. As it stands, what we need to do is keep working hard, earning points and finding our place in the standings. We are at the beginning of the League, we don’t know what will happen in June, but what we do need to know is the path we must follow, and the team is clear about that”.
Almería, good rival
“We’ve got the rival in our sights and tomorrow we’re facing a match with three points at stake. What do I expect of the opponent? I expect a difficult, tough team with pace, who is very clear of the situation. They've had a very hard season, with many new incorporations, many from this category, Second B, who want to show they have a place in professional football. They’re a difficult rival, run by people with a lot of experience in football and the division, knowing what they’re looking for and have found it. They’ve made a compact team, difficult to overcome. In their last home game they showed they had control of play, until they were at a numerical disadvantage”.
Intensity from the outset
“We know it’ll be an even game, a match in which both teams will have their chances, their moments, in which every action must be taken into account. Above all, we must be at 100 percent from the outset, as they’ll bring great intensity to the match. We need to equal this intensity and, if we want to surpass them, we need to be far better in order to give us an advantage. However, we must understand the match will be very even and must make the most of every moment.”.
