Muñiz: “Now is the time to start placing ourselves”

Whilst at the Ciudad de Málaga stadium, the Blue and Whites’ coach talked about #MálagaAlbacete: “We know that in order to win a game in this category we have to play very well”, he affirmed.

Next match

“Right now, I’m not concerned about the standings. What I’m focused on are the three points at stake and the fact we’re facing a rival who we know plays good football, finishes well and has quality players. A rival who will make things difficult for us. We need to affront this match with the same enthusiasm, optimism and ambition, knowing that in order to win a game in this category we have to play very well”.

Standings

“We’re only on matchday 8/9, and at the moment the position you’re in in the table is of no relevance. When will I consider this important? Within six or seven months, now is the time to start placing ourselves, like cycling in the Vuelta de España. You start planning and gaining positions, and in the last week you all play. The better placed you are, the better it is, the more room for error you’ll have at other times”.

Dynamic

“In football there are success and mistakes, the important thing is you have more success than you do errors. The team is doing very well, and the future will be very bright if we continue this dynamic of seriousness, strength, reliability… And then improving each week that goes by, but the team’s dynamic is good”.

International absences

“They are absences we’ve been expecting for a number of weeks. Players who regularly go with their national teams, who are taking part in important qualifiers for their countries, so we need to adapt to this and continue trusting in the work of the entire squad. We’ve got a vast team, with numerous players in various positions, and another player will enter who I’m certain will maintain the level or indeed he can improve. There’s no problem as everyone is working at the same level”.
