Montero: “I’m going to give my best for this Club and this jersey”

Málaga CF’s fifth signing was introduced on Monday in the ‘Juan Cortés’ press room at La Rosaleda. “I’m here because I want to be, I didn’t want to listen to other offers and I’m 100% focused here. I’m very happy,” he said.

Javi Montero was joined by Loren Juarros during his media appearance. “Thank you for your willingness and readiness to join this Club. You conveyed that you arrived full of enthusiasm to become part of a well-cohesive group and help the Club grow. Welcome and good luck. Your luck will be Málaga’s luck,” the club’s sporting director said.

Happy in Málaga

“I’m very happy. I was really eager to be with the team and the staff. I felt very good and comfortable the other day, especially because I got to experience the atmosphere at La Rosaleda. When I came here last year, it was very enjoyable. I’m very happy and looking forward to this weekend and getting back on the pitch.”

Good group

“It’s a group that was already established, they knew each other and had been together for a long time. Everything has been very smooth, I’ve integrated quite well with my teammates, and I’m very happy.”

Full preseason

“It’s been good, my knee problems are healed, and I’m already training with the team. I’ll follow whatever the coach decides since he’s the one who picks the lineup, and I’m always at his disposal.”

His friend Joaquín

“My relationship with him goes back many years. He was the first person I told, and he started pushing for me to come. We have a great friendship, and from the start, he tried to bring me back to the south.”

Only option in mind

“I’ve just arrived and I’m very happy. I’m here because I want to be, I didn’t want to listen to other offers and I’m 100% focused here. My mind is concentrating on being here and representing the club in the best way possible.”

No set goals but high expectations

“The goal is to try to win every match, to go out and win. After that, where we end up, no one knows. It’s a long and tough competition. We shouldn’t set limits or specific targets, just focus on improving day by day and approach each game with maximum effort to win.”
