The Blue and Whites’ defender analyses the defeat after the game: “It’s a very difficult day. The dressing room is angry. We must haul out our inner pride and change the situation”.
Lack of strength
“We knew what a match like this would require. I believe that we lacked forcefulness in each individual action. There’s nothing left to do but apologise to our fans. We are aware that this derby is marked in the calendar for them, as it is for us, above and beyond the three points in play. It’s a very difficult day. The dressing room is angry. We’ve been working well during the season, and a knock like this before the Cup match isn’t good. We must look forward, haul out our inner pride and change the situation”.
Change of image in the second half
“At half-time, each one of us knew what we mustn’t keep doing. The situation was tough. The coach tried to find a solution by bringing on other players. I think we were somewhat better in the second half, we were much tighter on the field of play. We generated opportunities to score goals. It’s a challenging day. I think we need to work individually, focus on the next match and change our image”.
Cup match against Córdoba
“It’s fundamental for us to get through this Cup tie. We didn’t perform well in Córdoba, much like last year against Mirandés. We’re now facing the return leg of the Cup following a poor match in Sevilla. We’re a mature, responsible squad, and I want us to represent these qualities on Tuesday at our stadium. I apologise again to our fans. Just as they are disappointed and angry, we too are livid. The good thing about football is that as from tomorrow we’ve got another match to prepare for, and I hope we can turn the situation around”.
