Míchel: “We gain prestige in these types of matches”

Blue and Whites’ coach, Míchel González held a press conference this afternoon at La Rosaleda’s press room. “We’ve got some prominent rivals visiting, so it’s important to not rest on our laurels”.

Tomorrow’s match

“We are up against a prominent rival, in that we need to turn around the poor image we showed last week against Deportivo. Undoubtedly, in training this week the players have focused on knowing the mistakes we made, and ensuring we don’t do the same again”.

Prestige

“When you reach this point in the season, you have to perform at a top level. Talk about the possibility of being in the relegation zone has subsided, not mathematically, but mentally, as we said last week. Fighting for the top spots is impossible, but I believe we have to work to gain prestige, and purge the sins we made throughout the year in these last matches. We’ve got some prominent rivals visiting, so it’s important to not rest on our laurels. They are major teams and we gain prestige in these types of matches. By playing well and winning”.

Ability

“Following the two results we achieved, we know we’ll be in the First Division next season. That’s not the problem. The problem is playing as we know how to, and as we have shown in recent weeks. The players have demonstrated their ability. We’re not pending other matches, perhaps we were before, but not now. We should solely concentrate on ourselves”.

Valencia

“It’s going to be a good game of football, as both teams will focus on the attack, and we have midfielders at a very high level. We’ll try to attack and defend as best we can against Valencia, a team that has improved significantly, particularly when allowed to play their game, which is something we cannot let happen”.
