Press conference
Míchel: “We feel strong and determined to defeat Numancia”

The Malaguista coach held a press conference in the run-up to #MálagaNumancia in the #CopaDelRey: “We need to approach this match with maximum intensity”.

Juankar, Recio and Kuzmanovic

“Juankar, unfortunately has a torn cruciate which affects his lateral ligament, meaning we’ll lose him for the entire season. Recio has some discomfort, so we’re going to do an MRI and hope it’s not more than a strain, and that he’ll be available for Friday’s match against Levante. On the other hand, Kuzmanovic is now starting to train, and hopefully next Monday he’ll be with the group. The others are tired, which is normal, after just 48 hours. Today we did very little work and tomorrow we’ll announce the line-up”.

Solution for left-wing

“We have the solution of Diego Gonzaléz, we’ll repeat this. This is one of the things we’re thinking about, but to force Diego too much is inconvenient as we have a game on Friday and only have two centrals. We need to be careful. The option of Álex Robles, who knows the work perfectly well and trains with us, also played the first leg and is perfectly feasible”.

Copa del Rey

“There’s no benefit to us getting eliminated from the Copa del Rey, particularly having such a close score. We’re doing well, playing better and understand that beyond the level of the rival, we have a good option to be able to qualify. The next round match wouldn’t be until January, but we have maximum respect for Numancia who are not an easy rival, despite being in the Second Division”.

Maximum intensity

“I understand that we have to go all out to win matches. Firstly, because it’s an official competition; secondly because winning is always positive; and thirdly, because we can’t allow playing in the Málaga CF jersey in any old way. We need to approach this match with maximum intensity, regardless of who’s playing. In addition, we have sufficient arguments to win. We know we’ll be up against a well-organised team, as they showed in the first leg, but we feel strong and determined to defeat Numancia, no excuses”.

Opportunity

“It’s true that we’re already seeing many players we could choose, beyond injuries. If we have another one in the Cup match, then great. There could be an opportunity for any player, as we’ve seen in LaLiga games. Tomorrow is a match we must play to win, exactly like Friday. It’s also an opportunity for players to show, as other teammates have done, that they can earn a position on the team for any match. We need everyone”.
