Málaga CF coach, Míchel González held a press conference in the lead-up to #GetafeMálaga: “There is encouragement because the team is changing”.
Encouragement
“It’s a very tough season for us, pretty uncomfortable as the results aren’t coming, and with everything that generates around the team. Beyond the results, the lads are training well. There is a certain level of encouragement because the team is changing. Some players are leaving, others joining. This creates enthusiasm that we hope will be reflected on the pitch and in the results. It’s urgent”.
Signings
“If they bring to the team what Ignasi Miquel and Iturra have, that will be phenomenal. These two players have not only brought a feeling of calm and capability, they are also encouraging the other players to unite around them. Given the circumstances, that’s a good thing”.
Crucial moment
“I’m not thinking about many changes. Some yes, out of necessity, as we’ve had three days to prepare for this match and certain players are suffering with fatigue. We have to move the team a little to see if we can find that stability based on the results. I’m not a coach who makes a lot of changes in regard to line-up or system. I think with the line-up we’re going to present tomorrow the team will have stability. It’s a crucial time for us and we will have to react in any way we can, far beyond the line-up or system of play”.
Changes
“For us there’s not a lot of bandwidth left. We have 11 points, which is extremely poor, and logically, thinking that we need eight or nine victories out of the next 20 games to be in the First Division, having won just three, may sound difficult. This is why we’re changing the squad, seeking other options, and tomorrow won’t just be like any another match”.
Getafe CF
“We’re facing a rival on good form, who is not destabilised, is strong and uses its resources to the end. It is a very committed, disciplined team, and the players know what they’re doing. This won’t make things easy for us, but we’re not here to focus on the rival, we’re here to look at ourselves and find solutions”.
