MCFF will play in ‘Grupo Sur’ of the new Second Division
The Blue and White women’s first team has mathematically sealed promotion to the new category after the RFEF restructuring to be undertaken in the 22/23 season.
Ayala’s girls, who enjoyed an away win against CP San Miguel (1-2, brace from Futu) on matchday 20 of Primera Nacional Femenina, remain undefeated at the top of the league standings with 18 victories and two draws.
With six games remaining until the end of the season, Málaga have accumulated 56 points, with a +15-point lead above Badajoz in second place, and +19 over Almería in third place. As such, with 18 points in play, it’s impossible for Almería to catch up to the Blue and Whites. CF Femenino Cáceres Atlético could do it (4th place with a match in hand, 20 points away from MCFF), but promotion is secure as Málaga are mathematically one of the best in Primera Nacional, and will also have a place in the new category.
This means the promotion of the top two teams from Group 4, the confirmation of a more than deserved achievement for a team that remains undefeated in the league up to now this 21/22 season.
The RFEF has recently approved the restructuring of the new divisions of Spanish women's football for the 22/23 season. There will be a professional First Division of 18 teams, a national RFEF First Division of another 18 teams and a new RFEF Second Division made up of two groups of 18 teams, ‘Norte’ and ‘Sur’, with Málaga CF Femenino promoted to the latter.
To return to the silver division, like this year, our girls must be in one of the top two places in the new ‘Grupo Sur’, which is set to be highly competitive by reducing the number of teams and increasing the quality of the rivals.
Congratulations on the promotion girls! Here’s to the championship title!
