Málaga CF
“We’re in a great position, and I hope we can finish in the first four. We’ll be fighting till the end to be able to finish third, even though at the start of the season, our objective was to end in the first six. I’m really pleased that the team is doing so well. We’ve got eight matches left to play, and when the results of other teams also go in our favour, it’s great, especially at this stage of the competition. We need to keep focused on ourselves and our matches, nothing else”.
Starting in West Bromwich Albion
“I was only 17 when I had the opportunity to go abroad. I really liked the idea and had a great time. Then I had the chance to return to Italy to join Juventus, for a significant transfer sum of money. I’d love to go back and see them all one day”.
Juventus and Milán, face to face in the Serie 'A'
“The two teams will be playing until the end. I’m really happy with how well Juve have done. The coach, Antonio Conte, who was captain when I was there, is doing really well, I’m so pleased for him. I was in the Milan youth team for two seasons, and as a professional, playing with Juventus was the best experience of my life, that’s where I learnt how to win”.
Best match ever, with Seville in Eindhoven
“The night before a UEFA final, or any match really, you always dream of winning, and scoring a goal. It couldn’t have gone any better, we won, I scored two goals, and was named man of the match. It was a wonderful moment, and after two months I scored in another final, the European Supercopa against Barcelona. It was the best moment of my life”.
Friendship with 'Micho'
“Martín – Demichelis – and I have always had a great relationship, on and off the pitch. When you join a new team, you nearly always bond with other new players, but I have a great relationship with everyone on the team”.
Italy
“It’s the best country in the world. Now with the political change, and a new president, we’re all hoping everything goes well. Italy is starting a new phase, and I hope the government can sort out the country’s problems. I was born in a beautiful place called Salerno, near Napoli.
Passionate about golf
“I love golf. It’s a wonderful sport as it requires both physical and mental ability. I had lessons with Jimenez’s brother, who was a great teacher. There are loads of brilliant players, Sergio García, Álvaro Quirón. There are some up and coming golfers in Italy now too”.
