The first Real Madrid-MCF

On 12th February 2000, Málaga CF visited the Santiago Bernabéu for the first time, under this denomination. It was the 24th First Division match of the season, officiated by Puentes Leira, which ended in a victory for Real Madrid (1-0, Zárate). Joaquín Peiro’s Málaga line-up consisted of: Contreras; Rojas, Fernando Sanz, Larrainzar, Valcarce; Rufete (Genilson ’85), Movilla, De Los Santos, Agostinho (Luque’71); Edgar (Ruano ’80) and Catanha.

Historical review of Chamartín

On 15th May 1946, marking the closure of the old Chamartín stadium, Real Madrid and CD Málaga took part in a friendly, the last match at this ground. The result was 4-5 to the Malaguistas, with the legendary Antonio Iznata ‘Chales’ forming a line-up made up of: Mendaro (Lareu); Jimeno, Soler, Paquirrini (Junco), García, Lecue, Casanova, Teo, Maciá, Lezama and Emilio. The star of the match was Teo, who scored three goals. Macía and Casanova scored the other two Malaguista goals.
