Match preview: Málaga CF-Real Betis

Málaga will welcome Betis tomorrow to La Rosaleda, for the 25th LaLiga Santander match. Canaries-born Hernández Hernández will referee the Andalusian derby, kicking off at 21:30 (GOL).

The Blue and Whites are in 14th place in the rankings with 26 points, one place above Betis, with a two-point advantage. In the first round match held in Sevilla, the locals won by 1-0 thanks to a goal by former Malaguista, Joaquín.

This will be Málaga CF’s 10th official match refereed by Hernández Hernández (six in the First Division, two in the Second Division and one Copa del Rey game), resulting in three victories, four draws and two defeats for the Malaguistas.

The first Málaga CF-Real Betis

On 12th September 1999, Málaga CF and Real Betis faced each other for the first time at La Rosaleda in the First Division. The 3rd match of the 1999/2000 season ended in a Malaguista victory by 3-0 (goals by Valcarce, De los Santos and Catanha). Joaquín Peiró selected the following line-up: Contreras; Rojas, Larrainzar, Bravo, Roteta, Valcarce; De Los Santos (Fernando Sanz ’85), Rufete, Edgar (Sandro ’73); Darío Silva (A.
