Malagueño, line by line

We analyse the main characteristics of the Malaguista reserve team, facing the promotion playoffs to 2ªB on Sunday.

On Sunday at 12pm, Atlético Malagueño will kick off the promotion playoffs to 2ªB against Yeclano Deportivo. At the Federación Malagueña de Fútbol ground, the Blue and Whites will attempt to seal a good result and head to the return leg in Murcia with an advantage.

What’s the reserve team all about? What are the main characteristics? Here we explain Malagueño 17/18 line by line!

The democracy of goal

The Malaguista strikers have scored 95 goals in 42 league matches this season. However, the goal is widely shared amongst them: Abeledo is the highest scorer with 19 goals, followed by Harper with 13 and Moreno with 12. In addition, players with less of an attacking profile, such as Deco or the versatile David Ramos, have scored 7 and 6 goals respectively. The scoring danger from the Blue and Whites’ team comes from all its lines of play.

Solvent defence

The Malaguista defence has only conceded 31 goals, an average of 0’7 goals per match. Samu Casado, until his injury, and Kellyan have been in charge of efficiently guarding the Blue and White goal, as well as international ‘juvenil’ keeper, Álvaro Fernández who had minutes in the last league game against UD San Pedro. In the line of defence, we find players who, despite their young age, have great maturity, such as Alberto López, Iván González, Álex Robles and Ian Soler, who have enjoyed minutes with the Malaguista first team.

A machine of high precision

The Atlético Malagueño midfield is made up of players who are able to disrupt the rival’s attempts with solvency and fluidly manoeuvre around the attack with high precision. Deco, Pablo Clavería, Maty, Ramos, Iván Jaime, José Carlos, and CIA make up the reserve team’s engine that produces a dynamic and beautiful football.
