The Francisco Romero municipal ground hosted a charity football tournament on Good Friday, in a quadrangular format, organised by Rincón de la Victoria Town Hall.
The first match of the day saw Málaga CF Forever defeat the team of veterans from Rincón de la Victoria. The result was a resounding 8-0 win, with goals from Catanha (5), Javi Henares, Dani Campos and Mario.
A team of veterans from Peloteros Granada awaited the lads in the final, who had won the other semi-final against the UD Almería veterans. The Blue and Whites beat the rival from Granada by a tight 2-1, thanks to a brace from the undisputed ‘pichichi’ of the tournament, Henrique Guedes ‘Catanha’.
Vicente Valcarce, captain of a superb team featuring former players such as Gonzalo de los Santos, Contreras, Nacho, Juan Rodríguez and Calatayud, amongst many others, collected the trophy presented by Councillor for Sport in Rincón de la Victoria, Antonio José Martín.
A beautiful day in which the crowd got involved with raising funds for Asociación Rincón Contigo, and Málaga CF, with the Diputación Provincial as its main sponsor, once again showed its close relationship with our wonderful towns and municipalities, taking part in these charity events.
