Málaga CF expands its presence in China

Director of the MCF International Academy, Marcelo Romero, travelled to the Asian country where the Club is currently developing a project for the implementation of football schools.

China is one of the main markets worldwide, and Málaga CF is working, within its policy of international expansion, to increase its presence there. For this reason, Marcelo Romero, director of the MCF International Academy, travelled recently to the cities of Peking and Shanghai.

During his stay, accompanied by David Martínez-Aldama from the Club’s International Department, Málaga CF approached various collaborators in different areas: businesses from the tourism and communication sector, development centres for young local talent and clubs in the area.

One of these meetings was the scene of the reunion between Gato Romero and the former Chinese international player, and current coach of the Shanghai SIPG Under-19s, Cheng Yaodong, whom he met 20 years ago in a friendly between Uruguay and China.

Another step forward that aims to enhance the Club’s presence in the Asian country, where a school is currently in operation in the city of Liuzhou. Previously, Gato Romero inaugurated this school and gave seminars in China as Málaga CF ambassador.
