Málaga CF deserves more at the Coliseum

Málaga Club de Fútbol lost by 0-1 against Getafe Club de Fútbol at the Alfonso Pérez Coliseum, in the 14th BBVA League match.

Málaga were dressed in the team’s third strip for this match – green shirt and whites shorts and socks.  In minute 56, Lope scored the winning goal for the home side.  The visitors performed well in the first half, and had several chances to equalise in the second, thanks to shots at goal from Saviola and Santa Cruz.

Málaga Club de Fútbol played a good first half.  Dressed in the team’s third strip, the visitors were unable to open the scoring in the first 45 minutes.  A fantastic chance for Camacho in minute 18 was the first shot at goal for Manuel Pellegrini’s men, forcing a good intervention by local keeper, Moyá.  Another shot by Isco from just outside the penalty area led to a great save by the Getafe keeper.  Joaquín tried to get the ‘Malaguistas’ on the score board with an impressive shot that was deflected off defender, Valera.

Getafe Club de Fútbol barely caused any trouble for Willy in the first half, with the only shot at goal for Luis García’s men coming in minute 32 by Mané, with the ball hitting the crossbar leading to a good save by the Málaga keeper.

The home team opened the scoring early on in the second half.  Lopo scored following a corner kick to put Getafe 1-0 in the lead.  They were close to scoring a second goal with a shot from Lafita in front of the penalty area, which narrowly missed the goal.

Málaga Club de Fútbol was determined to equalise during the remainder of the game.  Coach Pellegrini introduced Santa Cruz, who was close to scoring the team’s first goal of the match however the ball went way over the crossbar.  Saviola came closest to scoring, but after an encounter with Moyá, the ball went too long.

Despite this defeat, Málaga CF is still in the top part of the table with 22 points.
