M. Torres: “This renewal gives me more responsibility”

The versatile defender held a press conference in the ‘Juan Cortés’ press room at La Rosaleda, to make his renewal with the Club until 2020 official. “What I want is for us to win games for ourselves, for the fans and for the Club”, he says.

Miguel Torres was accompanied during the press conference by Málaga CF’s sports director, Mario Husillos. “It was my job to sign Miguel, and everything that we foresaw that he was going to give us has been endorsed in the dressing room and on the field of play. For me it’s an honour that a footballer who came here to contribute to the team has secured two contract renewals. He is heir to the great captains from previous years”, he says to the media.

Pride

“I thank the Club for the confidence they’ve given me yet again. This is my third renewal since I arrived here. I feel very proud to have belonged to this Club for so long. This renewal gives me more responsibility, another stage of my career and I look forward to being even more responsible in the years ahead”.

Málaga and the fans

“When I arrived in Málaga, Mario casually offered me the possibility to join the Club, which was like a breath of fresh air. My intention was always to contribute and enjoy this profession to the maximum. I found a Club that has helped me a great deal, with a fan base that continues to show their affection towards me, which makes me feel identifiable with the Club and spurs me on to keep bringing what I’ve got to the team (…) The fans are calling for the next match and to show once again that they’re behind the team. I’m happy and very much looking forward to doing all I can over the coming years, and eager to start winning games”.

VAR

“This type of mechanism, if implemented at the beginning of the season, would have helped us a lot. Out of the nine matches so far, errors have been made in critical moments of seven games. This isn’t an excuse, but they are conditioning and something that haven’t benefitted us at all. We don’t need to focus on the bad energy, but it’s also about calling for respect. I hope and wish that these mistakes are made as little as possible”.

Málaga-Celta

What I want is for us to win games for ourselves, for the fans and for the Club…and for the work we’re doing all week to start materialising during play. Winning the three points this weekend in front of our fans; and that when Celta come here they face a determined team on the pitch”.
