Secrets of a ‘10 out of 10’ preparation

Málaga CF Femenino train hard every day at Ciudad Deportiva de Cártama to reach the First Division. Training sessions adapted to the technologies and physiology of women, to ensure the Malaguista squad is at 100 per cent whilst on the pitch.

Málaga CF’s women’s team is enjoying an almost perfect start to the season. With five victories and one draw, the Blue and Whites’ team aspires to fight for the goal of a place in Liga Iberdrola next season. For this, they train at the facilities in Cártama to be able to offer a gameplay at the level of the First Division.

The MCFTV cameras sneaked into one of these training sessions to find out the secrets of these elite workouts. Malaguista Femenino’s physical trainer, Miguel Ángel Viñas, is in charge of knowing the physiology of every player. Their weight, height and fitness level. Every session is studied and organised in a different way to that of a male team.

“An important factor in our training is the control of the menstrual cycle of each player, as this serves to control load, individualise the training tasks a little, and even place them in one position or another depending on the player. We also focus a lot on preventive work. We teach the girls to have neuromuscular control, strength thorough hip stabilisation. It is motor learning that we try to instil progressively, giving the greatest control and stability possible to the knee. Physiologically, girls are different to boys. Girls’ hips are predisposed to giving birth, and there’s a higher tendency for injury. Our job is to alleviate it”.
