The Málaga CF captain held a press conference this afternoon in the ‘Juan Cortés’ press room at La Rosaleda. “We have to focus on ourselves and do our best to win,” he said about the upcoming game in Zaragoza.
Luis affirmed that he has now “recovered” from his recent ankle sprain and is “thinking about the weekend. We have in mind going to Zaragoza and coming home with the three points. Everyone is excited and eager, we have to move this forward no matter what. We’re training very well, with ambition, and the firm idea of winning in Zaragoza,” he continued.
Along these lines, the number '8' expects a “difficult match” since Zaragoza are “in a situation similar to ours, but we have to focus on ourselves and do our best to win. We’re not anxious, we’re ambitious. That ambition is what can punish us, there have been games we’ve lost due to our mistakes, but I have seen other teams in the Second Division making mistakes like ours and they’re not being penalized as much as we are,” Luis added.
Regarding the Copa del Rey, “we got through to the next round and will now face Nàstic, keen to affront all the matches.” In relation to Gallar, he’s in the middle of “an unbelievably difficult situation, but he knows he has the support of the whole team. He’s mentally strong, we’ll need him, he’ll bring a lot to the team,” said Luis Muñoz, who is upset by the current situation: “I’ve experienced situations similar to this. It hurts me to see us in this situation, to see people leave with their heads down and not have the results we want.”
Zaragoza and Ponderradina are the next rivals. “Nobody tells you that by winning these two matches we’ll be saved. These are very important games to break the streak, and also to achieve more victories between now and the end of the season,” affirmed the captain, who recalled that Real Zaragoza “are struggling, like us, but they’ll have a little more pressure when playing at their ground. We have to know how to play with that and think about ourselves, hurt them and counter their attack.”
Finally, Luis Muñoz talked about individual improvement for the benefit of the team: “We have to perform better individually, so that the group becomes stronger. Individually we are a great team, but we have to prove it as a group. We all need to move in the same direction.”
