Luis Muñoz: “Our batteries are charged and we’re full of enthusiasm”

The Malaguista captain said a few words following the first training session of the pre-season. “This year we’ve taken a step forward, veteran players with experience in the division are coming here,” he stated.

After the first training session of the 22/23 pre-season, Blue and White captain Luis Muñoz spoke to the media. During the press conference he talked about the new MCF: “We already know that Guede really likes intensity, piling the pressure on upfront and really going for the games. He has a clear idea for this year, and we’ve just started from scratch. We welcome our new teammates. It’s a new season, our batteries are charged and we’re full of enthusiasm,” he commented.

The new pre-season requires a change of mindset: “I’ve reset. It’s been a bit tough for me as I was out of action for a long time due to injury. You need to start at the beginning again, with fresh enthusiasm and look forward. I feel great. I started training on the 20th June, I’ve hardly had any holidays so I can arrive in the best possible shape, and I feel good,” he said about his physical form.

“With Guede it’s a different pre-season, each coach has his methods. We have to make sure we’re in the best shape to start in the best possible way. There is more intensity, far more hunger, more enthusiasm and then we’ll see how it goes in time,” he commented when asked what changes he sees on this first day of summer preparations.

Bustinza, Manolo Reina and Juanfran are the three new MCF signings so for this summer transfer window: “The last two seasons were different as there were lots of young players. Whereas this year we’ve taken a step forward, veteran players with experience in the division are coming here,” he explained.

In regard to objectives, the captain is clear: “We don't have to focus on promotion. When we start the league, we’ll see how we’re doing with every match. Our idea is to try to fight as much as possible. The main thing is the 50 points target and, from there, we'll see,” he said.
