Shots and goals with Fran Sol

The striker, who belongs to Ukraine’s Dynamo Kyiv, will play on loan at Málaga Club de Fútbol for the 22/23 season, with an option to buy.

Francisco Sol Ortiz (Madrid, 1992), known as Fran Sol, is a number ‘9’ finisher with an ease of definition in the rival area. In his home country, he started out in the youth ranks of Rayo Vallecano (2000-02), making the leap to the Real Madrid CF youth academy (2002-10) and ending his training at ‘juvenil’ age winning the Copa de Campeones together with the current technical secretary, Francisco Capote.

First years in Spain

At just 20 years old, on loan from Real Madrid, Sol made his debut in the Second Division with CD Lugo. That same season, 12/13, he played in the bronze division in Oviedo. The following campaign, 13/14, he scored seven goals for Real Madrid 'C' (Segunda B) during his last season with the Whites.

He signed to Villarreal CF, debuting in the First Division in 14/15 and scoring 11 goals with the Yellows’ reserve team in the bronze category. In 15/16 he increased his goal-scoring ability with Villarreal’s second team (16 league goals) before emigrating to Holland.

39 goals in two and a half seasons in the Eredivisie

Fran Sol exploded as a scorer in the Netherlands. With Willem II (2016-18) he scored 10, 16 and 13 goals successively in two and a half seasons in the elite of Dutch football.

His best year, in the 17/18 campaign, saw him named the sixth best scorer in the championship. In 2018/19, 13 goals in 17 Eredivisie matches caught the attention of Dynamo Kyiv who signed him in January 2019.

Kyiv and LaLiga SmartBank

The Madrid-born striker began a new stage with the historic FC Dynamo Kyiv in the Ukrainian Premier League. A benchmark club in its country and recognised in Europe, taking part in the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League in 2019. With the Ukrainians Sol added a League, Cup and Super Cup win to his record.

The past two seasons, on loan, Fran returned to the Spanish silver division. In 20/21 he scored a dozen goals for CD Tenerife and in the recent 21/22 campaign he added five more goals for SD Eibar. Remember his express brace at La Rosaleda in the rival’s win against MCF by 1-3 on league matchday 37?!

In full football maturity, Fran Sol reinforces Málaga CF with the principal aim of scoring goals. As from now, his goals will be ours. Welcome to the Malaguista Family!
